The Maytag Refrigerator and What to Expect

The Maytag refrigerator has come a long way since it was first manufactured in 1946. During this time period, not many American homes had refrigerators at all. It wasn’t until after WWII that companies like Maytag started to market these large kitchen appliances for home use. The Maytag refrigerator didn’t need much marketing- even back then, people were aware of the importance of these machines to their homes. While Maytag experienced some quality problems in the early 1990s due to financial problems arising from their acquisition of Amana, they were saved in 2006. The Whirlpool Corporation bought Maytag and began a whole new manufacturing plan. Unlike many other companies which outsource their jobs, the Maytag refrigerator is primarily made in Iowa. Here, the refrigerators are suspect the highest quality control tests and made in a plant by professionals. As a result, Maytag has regained its good name and reputation for durability and reliability.

There are several Maytag refrigerator designs available and these come in many styles with various features. The side by side models of Maytag refrigerators are amongst the top selling on the market. However, these models are falling in popularity to the newer French door bottom freezer designs. Of course, the classic top freezer and bottom freezer designs are still available and at an affordable cost. One feature which makes Maytag refrigerator units stand out from the competition is that they all meet Energy Star standards. Most models use less energy than a 75 watt light bulb due to their advanced insulation systems and door seals. You will find many variations of features available in Maytag refrigerators depending on model, lifestyle and budget. When it comes to buying a refrigerator though, you want to pick a brand name you can trust and Maytag has really proven well with its consumers.
